Rain.

We are in paridice village and it is raining off and on for all night and day... It is pretty crappy... We were going to do so many things outside these past few days but the Seattle clouds finally caught up to us.... And because of the rain Bens sleep over with his friend Easton at our boat turned into a 3 day event... Because it was to crappy to get him back to his boat which was 5 nauticle miles away. We were stuck with the pure insanity of 2 9 year old boys in a hotel room, that brings me to my next fun event. My dad is in town and he got a hotel room to stay in. So I stayed with him, me being the big brother, they both needed to sleep in the room as well... No sleep was slept that night, that might be because I was puking out of both ends or the fact that the kids were frikkin out. The next day I stayed in the hotel feeling like shit all day...and that's all.... That night I slept awesomely and felt great in the morning! But the weather wasn't, it rained and misted all day, yesterday we went to the market and it was a little cloudy but when the market closed the flood gates in the sky opened and all was wet... Not a sole in sight was spared. But when god gives you lemons, you find a new god. So we went under our fly and we had some cold drinks and then we made are way to the best taco place ever!!!!!! Tacos on the street!!!! No matter how wetand cold you are, when you bite into one of those godlike tacos you could not be happier.... I had 6.... A Christian man might say I was one a way from godlyness but I had had two cokes before and I was full with 6.

la paz

yesterday my mom made all of us go into town for a "field trip", it was no bueno, first off it took all day and then Sam was making the devil look like a saint, meaning she was super crazy and screaming all the time! Thank god for cabs because I was not about to walk all the way back from town to the marina. Btw yesterday sucked. Next off today I spent all day writing and doing school so I’m not in the mood for writing all pretty like so this blog will kind of be a venting session, I thought that would be OK sense everyone else is doing it. I am also kind of pist that I dropped our key into the water so getting a new one is super expensive.... not a fan of that life, on the bright side I got to spend a little bit of time with my mom... so all in all it kind of sucks, but now that I’m done venting I’ll be straight for a bit and tell all y'all what’s up, first I’m in la Paz and its nothing special because I have went into town once. Also I promised my mom that I would write a long blog entry. So I’m doing it. last but not least Shana from sand dollar came up to me and asked me if I would like to do this for more than a year or am I glad that it will end in a year, I answered by saying if the company changed I would be happier, which is true if my friends and I were doing this it would be sooooo much more fun and I think that ben and Sam are slowly but surely destroying all sanity that I still cling to. So I’m going to come back up to Seattle for a week or two soon just to regain some brain cells that have popped out of frustration at my siblings, but I got to love them, because at some points there really cute and fun, they are also a constant reminder to not have children until I have enough time to deal with them
On a completely different note, I am finding that I hate mosquitos even more… they are everywhere and I am being bitten all the time! It’s crazy! I didn’t even believe they could eat so much! But we did get a bug zapper… it is one of the best inventions ever and as soon as I get my own house I’m going to get one of those bug zappers with the light that brings them in and then zaps them and I’m going to sit on my porch and watch as my enemies die in front of me!!!! It’s a little intense but I hate those stupid little things with an undying rage!!!!!!

I am also really craving video games…. I really miss them,  I feel like I am missing so much by being down here without any internet and video games… it really is a horrible feeling, but I’m not only talking about getting behind on video games… I’m going to get back and I feel like everyone will have going places and I doing things and I feel like I’m going to fall behind, but I’m keeping my head up and trying to do my best in not giving a @$%&! And I’ll just have to keep it up for another half year… I also don’t know what to ask for, for Christmas so I can keep my mind of stuff like that so I’ll get by but it’s going to be hard but the experience is worth it. I am having so much fun with sailing and learning all sorts of things. But I will say that it seems like yesterday that I set off from Seattle and started my sail down the cost and yet it is almost Christmas… it is weird, I have no concept of time or date or anything like that it’s like I’m one of the lotus eaters… I just don’t have a reason to keep track of stuff like that anymore, it is truly the weirdest feeling, I am so used to depending on date and time that when I realize that I don’t have a clue I kind of feel lost and confused but at the same time I feel like if I don’t know it then I don’t need to find it out, which is the exact opposite from how my life used to be like, you know what they say in with the out in with the new,  but that pretty much raps up this blog entry so I’m going to start taking more pictures with my phone so I don’t have to write as much because I don’t like the act of writing but sometimes I like the product that I can create but I will never right in length for pleasure! That is for sure!!!! So to all of you that are reading my blog right now know that I really don’t like putting my feelings and life in writing so your welcome internet!!! Another post that will stay in your archives until the internet gets way to big and implodes... but until then this will always be around love all of ya! And Mom, Marcus if you go and count all the words in this post you will come to notice that I am a little short of a thousand word so don’t freak out at me it’s not like this is a school assignment that will decide If I pass or not

slowing down.

We have finished the Baja ha-ha in first, we are no longer rushed to go to different ports and have deadlines. We are finally swimming and relaxing every day, we are finally done with the constant pushing and we are relaxing. We are also putting the spear gun to use. I have caught to fish so far and they both tasted great!
We are also experiencing good company with our good friends sand dollar, they are going down the cost with us and we have somewhat bonded, we are trying to stick together. I am also slowing down on the blog posts. If you follow my blog you know that I’m not the best at keeping you guys current, well I have decided to slow down on my posts... I really don’t like feeling obligated to right about stuff I do all the time! So I’m going to slow down and take a break.

I'm back. Again.

I haven't had much Internet lately so I haven't blogged.... But I still kept track of the days and made sure that I wouldn't forget anything, well I kind failed on that... I wrote down the stuff we did but I didn't write down the dates.... So this all happend I between my last blog and now, sorry for the inconvenience... But it's hard to blog on the boat... For me at least.. Every one else is better at it, any who.... After twin harbors (the last place I bogged from) we moved over to Avalon harbor... It was really weird... No one there had cars. They all had golf carts! I saw like 10 cars in that Intire town! It was really really wierd!!! Afte that we went back to the main land, we sayed at a yacht club called Baha Corinthian yacht club. It was a cool club but we got there when it was closed so we really just used it for bath rooms and a small pool they had, mind you there pool is very very chilly. While we were there we got a cab and went to Disney land!!!!!! We planed for Ben to have the most fun but it turns out Sam did. The next day we met one of Islas good friends (isle correct me if I'm wrong) who's name was lee. Her and her husband john took us to Huntington Beach for dinner. The next day we left BCYC and headed over to Balboa yacht club. We then met some of my moms good friend, Anna, Bob and there daughter Sophia. They took us to a kick ass Mexican place! I got a taco salad, it was really good! Today we came to ocean side yacht club! We are only spending one night here but we all wish we could spend longer! Every one is sooo nice and there food isn't to bad ether... We spent a good part of the after noon trying to save a fish that had some plastic around his neck. Unfortunately we couldn't and we quite trying.  And that brings us up to date. See you guys on the flip side.

cat

Just kicking it in Catalina and life is good!!! We went on a tour of the trans-Atlantic ocean liner called the Queen Marry. The tour guide was awesome and the ship itself was even better! It is a beautiful ship and the history of the vessel is really cool, after our tour we went on a haunted queen marry tour, it was really fun because Ben came with us, he normally doesn't do things like that because he is too scared, but he ended up liking it. After that we went to a Russian sub called the Scorpion. It was really cool, I might post some pictures later. After that we ate at P.F. changes…. What does the pf stand for? Any who I’m sick at the moment and I’m not enjoying it… my ears are clogged so I can’t dive when we are snorkeling. And I’m not having fun being crammed on the boat while I’m sick… but the warm weather is helping out!!!!

sep 28 13

We made it to santa cruze island! We are anchoring in a cove called smugglers cove, It is are first anchorage of this trip! It went surprisingly well... We put the anchore down and it stayed there! There's not much else you can ask for... All the kids are acting better and Samir cut her I lid a little bit. But other than that it is awesome the soller panama are kicking butt with giving us pover, and we are leaning how to beach the dingy with big waves... We almost flipped yesterday and everyone got wet. We don't have much service... So dad... It's not like I'm avoiding you, I just don't have service!!! And your probably going to respond with something like, "why didn't you blog yesterday and the day before that! I want to know what's going on!" And I would respond with something like " I know dad! I'm sorry! I have been busy with having fun and enjoying my life on the boat!"

Now for what we are doing today. We are going to climb to the top of the mountains on the island that we are achoring next to! I'm excited!.

sep 30 13

Well... I could die tomorrow and still know that I saw something that most humans on this planet have never seen and will never see. What is it you may ask? What did you see you might say? Well I’ll tell you what I say. It was earlier this morning, we pulled up the anchor and started to head out of our nice calm anchorage and started to head to LA! About 2 hours after leaving we saw some dolphins... not much but a good sized pod. They were swimming at our bow and playing in our wake, but wait! There’s more! We lifted out heads to only the sight of fins! There were more than 150 dolphins jumping in the air! I still don’t believe my eyes but I know it happened! It was the most exhilarating sight I have ever seen!!! I will never forget it, but my favorite part was witnessing a mother teaching her baby how to surface for air. Belly to belly the mom would push the baby straight out of the water. Another awesome thing to witness while the dolphins were under the boat was hearing them click and squeal to each other.

While that was awesome I had a few other exciting experiences. the day before yesterday we were launching Bmo (our inflatable dingy) from a beach with good sized waves we saw a seal playing in the surf and as we were pushing Bmo out into the calm surf, or so we thought, a wave came out of nowhere and that seal came within my arms reach and then darted off, my mom who was the one to saw it all said his head was at my head level coming out of the curling wave as it hit us... I wish I saw it... but it was still cool. the next day we went exploring with Bmo and we found a beach that Sam just needed to play on so we cowboy-ed up and went for it... did I mention that the waves were curling at the very last minute and the beach was all rocks and scary... if we messed it up we all could have gotten hurt. So as soon as we landed we waited for calm and pushed the boat out with Marcus and the kids on it to ensure there safety and me and my mom swam out to Bmo after they were out of harm’s way. Adrenalin was at a crucial, 100%

Benny and Marcus have returned!!!!! It great to have them back. It has only been 4 day but it seems like a lot longer. They were at a YMCA camp with a bunch of his friends from school! I looks and sounds like they had a lot of fun. We all just got done with our family movie and we are saying good bye to Santa Barbra. Tomorrow we are going to leave and get to the Chanel islands. I am ready to move on because I have been here for 9 days! So I'm excited to get going. Well I also remebered why eating out with the family is kinda hard. With the Ben Sam combo it is really hard to enjoy being in public, but then what kids are good in public the weather over here is awesome and I'm enjoying it so much. See you guys in Seattle soon.

sep 22 13

Another successful movie night with the family, we watched the best Disney movie of all times! The Lion King!!!! Every time I watch it, it gets better. My mom just informed my about the second movie and I might watch that soon. Any who, I am doing a science project right know for school, it is support to show pigment in leaves. Any way it will take 3 hours to finish so it’s going to be a late night. On a different note the wind here is crazy! It was blowing like crazy in one direction and 5 minutes later the wind switches 180°!!! I really don’t understand how it does it but it does.
Today we did all the laundry on the boat and now everything is clean. Ii still haven’t put away my cloths but that’s on the agenda.  We also tried to exchange or empty propane tank and it turns out we can only refill it, but not at that location, so we need to find a place where we can refill it so we can cook things… like we did today, we had mashed potatoes and kielbasa. It was an interesting combination but it worked out.
My neck and back stopped hurting and I’m feeling great.

sep 21 13

the night is winding down to an end and the wind is howling and whistling in between the masts of the sail boats around us, my mom, Sam and I just got done with watching Tarzan and 2 episodes of the penguins of Madagascar, they are getting ready to go to bed right now. I finished all my school stuff and am also getting ready for bed... I had a really bad night last night and I hope I have a better one tonight. I just got into a new series... bleach... I am kind of addicted and can’t stop reading it online. I am also dealing with some weird aches and pain in my back and neck... I know where it comes from, it comes from me being too tall to live on a boat... so I decided about a half hour ago that I would spend the least possible time down below. I have been spending way too much time inside reading and I am going to be outside more, tomorrow we are going to go and get some more propane for the boat and also get some school supplies. I’m very eager to come back to Seattle and I can’t wait to see every one up there.

Dear world, it’s me max, writing you from Santa Barbra, its night outside and I just took a shower. it was the best shower of my life, I also had my back adjusted by a little beast that could not jumping on me... today I was cooped up in the boat all day,it wasn't torture, I chose to be inside and I got a lot done. I’m righting this blog right now because I want to keep everyone up to date on what is happening with me and this adventure, I am having a lot of fun and can’t grasp what I’m doing yet... I still feel like I’m on summer break... nothing has bean going on for now but i going to post more since i have more free time

Thursday, September 12, 2013

we are in Morro bay to nigh and we are debating whether or not we are going to stay for a little bit or just head out soon, I would be happy with both! I’m starting to get used to not really having a place to stay... it feels kind of cool, it’s as if I was living in some type of dream... I just finished my first book of the trip, I started it 4 days ago and I’m starting the second book in the trilogy tonight... it’s the wrinkle in time trilogy... it’s a fun read and I’m enjoying it. please wright book suggestions in the comments down below, now more about Morro bay, it’s a really cool and the yacht club we are staying at is very nice... the best internet we've had in a long time.... it is also a very nice facility with decent restrooms and a good deck for us to relax on.... but there are flies. Not as many as half moon bay, but still, they are soo annoying!!!!!!!!!! But I have made up a new way to kill these small black beasts!!! First to blow on them so they try to hold on to you then when they are holding on you smack them with you hand then you roll your hand away to make sure that they are dead, finally you pick up the dead fly, now read closely! You throw it at your brother, and try to make sure he is watching or hit him in the face, it is a guaranteed laugh!!! I also got a Rasta poncho from a store up here!!!! And fed a sea lion!!! I also saw some cool looking octopuses which made my day.

The princess strikes again.

We were supposed to leave this morning... And we did until we realized that our alternator was not working... So we turned the boat around... I had already said my good byes and was very tired! So I really didn't want to do anything today! But we did. We got back and went swimming, it was fun but not what I wanted, then we went to a fair. It kinda sucked... But while I was there I stopped by McDonald's and picked up a McGangbang.... Probs the best part of today.... Then we got back and I've been addicted to my phone all day... Here is my report on our crew...
Ben=drama queen, but I love him for it
Me=antisocial geek, but I got a lot done in my games
Mom=wounded selfless person, she has had a horrible head ache for a long time
Marcus= drill Sargent, in a good way... Fixed the problem and helped mom with getting better... Very stocked though
And that is my report. Ill be doing this more often just so I can look at why they did what they did and to help me to look at the good... All in all today kinda sucked and was full of let downs....
See you guys latter! Call me if you guys want to know more!

Getting ready for our trip coming up soon, everyone is a little stressed out… not much has happened today… just posting to keep the habit. Its days like this that make me tired, can’t wait to go up to the pool and relax…. Watch a movie in the shade and just relax with some internet before it’s all gone. I’ll upload some photos to this blog of my splicing. I thought it was really good for my first time. I had a little fun with the wiping… it doesn’t look as pretty as I tried to make it, but it’ll do

Yesterday.

I have always wonder how spliced lines become spliced, just how I wondered  how my uncle did magic. Well I finally figured it out! To start. My uncle did not do magic, he created it. The wonder in the kids eyes when he does a magic trick, that was the magic he created, every thing else was slight of hand. I figured this out yesterday when I sat down and learned how to splice. It took me 2 hours to get to the final step and then it took me an hour to finish it. During the proses  Pete told me that if I didn't  have blisters, I wasn't doing it right. That made me think that to create magic you have to go above and beyond also you have to put some blood, sweat and tears into it. Hard work creates magic, Not some mythical power.

Pool side

I'm sitting next to the pool while Benny swims and I decided to blog. I slept outside last night again. It was colder than the previous night but I still slept fine. It's windy as crap down here, kinda makes everything colder. Now that the week has started there is no one at the pool... Every one is at school... I finished my studying for today and I'm just waiting for the day to start... There's not much to post about so far today but if something comes up ill post about it. See y'all later,

Today's post

I am sooo happy! That stupid seagull has left! I can finally sleep at night!!!! Sike!!! I still can't fall asleep! The bird is gone the kids aren't bothering me! I have no excuse for why I'm so tired in the morning. So I tried something new last night. I crawled out of my hatch with my blanket, 2 pillows, a pair of scrubs, a hat and a sweater and I lyed down in between my hatch and the anchor locker. After 15 minutes I fell asleep... But then some time in the night it rained I woke up to a rain drop to the eye bulb and it hurt! I got over it and scrunched up into a little ball underneath my blanket and fell back asleep. Then I woke up to a scream and a slash.... The boat was no longer tided to the dock and Marcus, who was trying to move the boat back 6 foot by himself to get better Internet had fallen in, he got back up and everything is fine...  See you guys latter

Happy bday dad!!!!!

Make up post!

Sorry for not Logging yesterday. I was too busy with things I had to. If you want to know how I'm doing call me! I'm still in the states.

Walking back from shopping

"I'm gon' get chu!"
So I'm walking from the grocery store to get ice and I look over to see this beautifully, QUIET and elegant bird fishing for dinner... That seagull has got a lot to learn...

... getting real tired of your S**t bird

Once again, another night ruined by the selfish cries of the stupidest seagull…. I hate that bird so much…. And it’s not like there are a lot of seagulls, no there’s only one and he never stops crying! I have never hated another animal as much as I hate this one…. Just picture a calm quiet night after watching a fun movie with your step dad, you go into your bunk with your hatch wide open so the wind can come in and keep you from overheating, but then out of the darkness a repetitive squawk comes and breaks the silence, it’s not too much noise so you can’t turn it into white noise but it’s too noisy to ignore. Now picture it stopping, you feel suck a strong emotion of relief, but it’s not over yet as soon as you are about to fall back asleep. it starts again. You can’t do anything about it. It’s just there, taunting you. It repeats this cycle a few times until you get too tired to stay awake. You finally fall asleep, that is until you are rested enough to wake up again from a very familiar noise, it around 3am now and you just want this night to be over when a miracle occurs! That stupid seagull cries itself to sleep. And fall back into a deep sleep until around 10 when the sun comes through your hatch and hits you straight in the face. And that’s that. Today we heard that my mom is coming so me and Marcus are on clean up duty… I just got finished washing the sheets and our laundry.

No sleep... Bird problems

Hello every one out there...I'm  writing this Ar about 12:15 in the morning!!! It to late and I'm to tired! There is this stupid seagull next to the boat and he's making me crazy!!!!! Always squawking!!!!! You know what... Where's the flare gun! I'm ending this! Now! Come at me seagull! IRL! Lets go!!! Swing first!!!! See me head up!!!!

Another Day in Paradise

Another day in Cali, Sunny, hot and nothing to do except for swim in the pool... but now, I’m going to complain a little. First, there where so many kids at the pool! Also they were from Australia or New Zealand and where running around with their cute little accents, splashing everyone, throwing things all over the place! but I’m not done yet earlier today I found an ingrown hair on my inner thigh.... it hurts.... a lot.... but besides all that, I’m still having fun and trying not to let little annoying creatures ruin my day (I now understand why the adult swim was created)...hope all is well in Seattle and ill post again tomorrow!

story time

Hello everyone who follows this blog…. It is I, Big Max. I come to you today barring a story, a story of big seas and dangerous storms, a story of an adventure.

13/8/13- I said my good byes that day, to my best buds in Seattle that is…

14/8/13- it was a brisk early morning, I awoke knowing not of what was to come but I did know I wasn’t prepared. Regardless, I boarded my land vessel and embarked on a 6 hour drive to Neah bay. Then when I thought it couldn't be worse I unloaded this land vesicle and found myself in the belly of the beast we call Appa, with! 5 old sailors with hygiene that had escaped them quite a long time ago and in their place questionable drinking habits arose. But on the brighter side we ate fresh salmon for dinner!

15/8/13-day-we started the trip to Cali that morning and with the absence of wind, waves and rich, who was dealing with his hangover in the forward head, we were left with the droning purr of Appa

15/8/13-night- 50 miles out and clear skies, the only source of light we had was the moon, after the moon went down you could see all the stars in the sky, at least that’s what they told me because I went down below to get some shut eye before me shift in the morning.

16/8/13-day-we started this day with the gentle purr of Appa, but around noon we turned her off and raised her spinnaker. It flew for the whole day, we were making a constant 10 knots SOG; there was a smile on everyone’s face.

16/8/13-night- I made lasagna  for dinner that night. It was a damn good If I do say so myself. I had never had a better meal. We all enjoyed it. But when it was time to fall asleep, it was hard, without the motor the cabin was so quiet… to quiet.

17/8/13-day-I woke up early for my shift… and when I poked my head out of the cabin I noticed we were just getting into it… 10 foot waves and 30 knots of wind, they had taken down the spinnaker and put up the jib. But the wind was building and so were the waves, we decided to put up our storm jib and put some reefs into the main. By the afternoon we were in 40+ knots of wind and 30 foot seas 50 miles of shore with nothing but a tether keeping us from falling of the boat into the cold icy grasp of the Pacific Ocean were we would slowly die. Lucky for us the wind and waves were going in the direction that we were. So every wave was like surfing on a huge long board.

17/8/13-night-we were still in the storm and sleeping was almost not going to happen. Every wave was like climbing a mountain and coming down from them was like a free fall. Needless to say sliding from one side of your bunk to the other is not very relaxing.

18/8/13-day-the storm had calmed down a little but we were still in it… we went on with our shifts knowing we were making good time.

18/8/13-night- we had plenty of food… good fresh food, but for some reason our chief papa fox had to use the vegetable out of the bilge for a curry… and it was great! It was the best food I had ever eaten out of a compartment that is used to store water that comes in the boat…

19/8/13-day-we made it…. we fricken made it. we got to the golden gate bridge and into the san Fran bay… we tie up at Encynal yacht club and are done… we all get off the boat and use a real toilet and head off into town, but something isn’t right… no one is walking straight and we all look like we are going to fall over… but being on a constantly rocking boat for 5 days will do that to ya.
Sorry I haven’t been posting lately… I have been way to busy with swimming in a pool and sun bathing to get online and share this story. Miss every one back home.

-Big Max

Ps. Sorry for the horrible grammar and spelling, it’s been a while

leaving for mexico on the 14th of August... its coming up pretty fast.
